You are a pirate

I LOVED pirates as a kid (and I do mean LOVE. Like. I was obsessed, and I'm pretty sure it's because of the first Pirate of the Caribbean movie)(which is still pretty baller). When I was brainstorming comic ideas for my art school diploma, I of course could not not entertain a pirate story. Sadly it needed a lot more time in the brain incubator, so I went with SCAPEGOATS instead.

Anyway, more details about the plot down there. This isn't meant to be a comic project so you get the whole story babyyy
I'll refer to the pirate boy as the boy, and the other one as the son.

The boy was 'adopted' as a child by an all female pirate crew (called 'the sirens') after the ship he was on as a stow away got pillaged by them. He stood up to the captain despite weighing about as much as two bunches of grapes and being as dangerous as a kitten, which made her laugh, so she took him in. He's basically her son, and he sees her and the crew as his family.

One day many years later, the crew learns that some aristocrat is offering a lot of money to whoever will marry their youngest son, because none of the local aristocrats want to (for some reason ;) ) from a girl on a ship they just pillaged.
Being pirates and seeing an easy opportunity to scam money out of the rich, the crew decide to send one of their own, who would pretend to be the daughter of one of the admiral they just killed. But since all the ladies on the ship are out of the age range for this marriage, they choose the boy to play the bachelorette.

Note that he doesn't mind, to him there's nothing shameful in pretending to be a woman, though he is not happy to have to mingle with the aristocracy. But the mission is simple enough: all he has to do is go there, meet the groom, and rob them blind when they have their guards down.

On his side of the story, the youngest son of the family has always stood out from his two siblings: he was born with a mysterious medical condition that makes him weak to pretty much anything and especially hot weather (which is too bad since they live in a port city), with difficulty walking without aids, and most of all he really does not look like his father.
His mother once fell off a ship into the sea, and after she was found (alive), she was never the same, and became pregnant shortly after. She became totally entranced by the sea, extremely melancholic, to the point where, shortly after giving birth, she was admitted into a sanitarium.
She managed to get out of her room one night and, since the sanitarium overlooks the sea on top of a cliff, fell to her presumed death, never to be seen again.

The day after their extremely awkward first meeting, the son simply disappears, and neither his father nor his step-mother seem to care too terribly, simply stating that he must have been scared and fled the marriage. Even if it's not his business, the boy finds their reaction so strange that instead of going back to the ship, he sets out to find the son.

In his investigation, he is helped by the son's personal doctor, a young bachelor of medicine who actually cares about him beyond his strange condition, and one of the son's chidlhood friend, another aristocrat with a chronic health condition that she treats by drinking the local miracle medicine: a dark red bourbon distilled in the city itself.
The boy also slowly uncovers the town obsession with old mariners' tales about mermaid flesh and immortality, as the streets become less and less safe. Over the course of the last few months, several prostitutes have been killed or injured by locals believing they are mermaids in disguise…

The boy learns about these recent attacks from the son's older sibling, who was disgraced after bringing dishonor to the family by 'crossdressing' (the son has two older siblings, twins, who both fucked up in the eyes of their family. The 'daughter' became and admiral in the marine and the 'son' a disgrace who likes to hang out in the red light district)(there's a lot of themes of gender roles/identity in this story and I do use daughter/son lightly there)

All these informations combined lead the boy to believe that there's something up with the local distillery, which obviously ends up being true once they uncover that they're putting blood in the bourbon, mermaid blood. Hence the miraculous medicinal effects.

And the blood comes from none other than the son himself.

His father had always suspected something was off with 'his' son, and he quickly discovered that something otherworldly was flowing through his veins instead of his blood. At first, he simply was making money by ordering bloodletting, disguising it as being for the health of his son, and selling the blood to the distillery. That's what tipped off the young doctor, because he had always argued with the father that this was not helping, and yet the bloodletting would continue.

But the father still wanted an heir, and his two older children were not going to give him one. So, wether his son was his blood or not, he put the call for bachelorettes after being rejected by all the other aristocrats who didn't want to marry their daughters to a sickly boy. But with the bourbon selling so well, the head of the distillery wanted to be able to produce more, and seeing how much the father was offering for the hand of his son, he offered much more to simply buy his son.

Having mermaid blood means that despite his health seeming poor, the son actually heals exceptionally well, so he could be bled to near death one day, and then the next, again and again, day after day with no one coming to look for him.
But ever since he disappeared, the weather had been getting worst and worst, first being simple rain growing to a huge thunderstorm and sea levels rising to the point of flooding the lower districts. By the time the boy gets to the distillery, it's already getting flooded, and he has to fight against time and the head of the distillery to get the son out of there.
A good time as ever to say that the boy does not know how to swim, but, surprisingly, if the son is rubbish at walking on land, he quickly discovers that he swims very well. So he's able to save the boy, after the boy come to save him (aww).

He also gets a glimpse of his 'other' mother while under the water, who is a huge (I do mean huge like. Enormous. Whale sized) mermaid. Making eye contact with her, and with everything the head of distillery has been mocking him for during those past days, all the pieces of the puzzle click in his mind, and he understands that there was never anything wrong with him.
The huge mermaid also fucking destroys the distillery and eats the crook.

In the end, the two boys decide to elope together on the sea far away from the aristocracy and they get to grow up to be gay old pirates, the end.

That's my cheesy pirate story. As I said, there aren't any plans to actually make this a comic, but who knows, it's been marinating in my head for so long that maybe I'll manage to iron out the kinks and make something out of it, but in the meantime I hope you enjoyed reading it in full !

Here are a few more doodles:
At the distillery and after.
Also the captain of the sirens has a monkey named lychee who is there during the story. Yes she is the only one named so far, and she wears clothes.
I really want to draw the sirens, the twins, the giant mermaid, the bachelor and the childhood friend, so ! Hopefully there will be more of this story at some point.

Little gay monks but make it worst™

I'm really bad at updating this blog consistently but hey. I'm back with some bad AU stuff.
The bad AU or 'bad timeline' AU is basically an exploration of how different (and worst) the life of the monks would be if they hadn't stumbled upon the monastery, because I love drama and I love to suffer (but also it does make the canon even more sweet knowing that actually the kids are alright in their little found family)
The Prince is found by the king and rejoins the royal family, he never finds his heart and his emotionlessness definitely gets used for the worst reasons. A reign of terror ensues.

Venya still gets abandoned by his uncle and aunt after his parents die, but this time he wanders aimlessly until he stumble upon a farm that agrees to take him as a hand. He works himself into an early grave due to the threat of being kicked out if he doesn't, ends up getting sicks and dying alone.

Semyon stays up North and take his father's place after his death. He's driven by revenge and ends up being just another cog in the war with the kingdom, will probably die in battle or publicly executed after getting captured.

Artsiom becomes a blood cultist after losing everything to the deity he sought the help of when his village was being attacked.

Grigoriy remains a street urchin, plagued by his prophetic nightmares. He pretty much gets used by other urchins to get the upper hand on different gangs, and will most likely end up dying of sleep exhaustion.
Mikalay is taken by the fairies. By that age he pretty much is too far gone as a feral child to ever have any chance to rejoin human society, turns out fairies aren't ideal for raising a human child.

If you think this AU is bad enough as it is, you just have to imagine the shitshow that would ensue if they still got to meet. The Prince kills Semyon in battle. Artsiom stabs Mikalay in the forsest. Venya gets mugged by Grigoriy. FUN FUN FUN (tho my brain also likes imagining them as a found family in this AU too. Like. Found family but everyone is really fucked up)

Clowning around

There have been these 'let's make an OC' memes on Twitter for a while now, and I really wanted to participate for a long time.
First of all we made a clown together !
Their name is poppy, and their main personality trait is mischievous.
So a piece of shit pranking clown, in summary.
Then we made a slasher together, which ended up more wholesome than intended.
This is the 'carnival butcher' (because of her careto mask, traditionally worn during carnival in portugal). She's a neolithic woman who was frozen in ice until she was defrosted by teenagers (who also had fun dressing her up lol). Her drive to kill is to protect the weak and the innocents from oppressors, aka she's a big mama lion who will club you to death for trying to take advantage of others.
Tbh we stan, you go mama, you know she'd fucking destroy the 1% the second she'll learn about it (we're coming for you Bezos you piece of shit).

And another meme, which was asking people which characters reminded them of you, and here's the result ! (I'm flattered lol I wish I was even a tad like those characters)

In order: Barnaby (Tiger & Bunny), Noodles (Gorillaz), Nico Robin (One Piece), Selmer (Night in the Woods), Krem (Dragon Age), Kiki (Kiki's delivery service), Gomez (the Addams family) and Bruno (JJBA)

Rafael can have one (1) more ugly blond boy, as a treat

You know how you sometime have sudden ideas for characters that are totally random and are linked to no other stories ?
Well because I'm swiss, TikTok decided that I MUST be interested in seeing ski content. And I feel kind of bamboozled to say that 1) ski videos are sick as fuck, I had no idea you could do flips on skis, and I indeed enjoy the ski content 2) it made my brain go 'hey let's make an OC who ski'

That's how Ruedi was born lol
He's swiss german, 23/24 ish years old. He used to do pro ski until he came out on national television and was kicked out by his family. His gf dumped him a couple of weeks later because she got harassed on social media due to being a pretty vocal lesbian and people all giving their shitty two cents about her girlfriend coming out as a guy (+ her being actually conflicted between her feelings and her identity).

So let's say Ruedi is currently having a rough time.
He'll be ok tho. He'll get through that shit.

Now for some pre-coming out Ruedi content.
You gotta imagine that Ruedi is TALL. Like, a little above 180cm tall. Though he might look gangly, he's actually pretty fit (like, you can see abs when he flexes fit). But let's say it was quite a recipe for being bullied once he hit puberty. So aside from knowing he was good at sport, Ruedi's self-esteem was pretty much non-existant when it came to looks.
The one to pick up his shitty self-esteem was Estelle, which he met at the winter Olympics (she does ice skating). She hit on him and they ended up dating for a while until the infamous coming out.
spoiler: they still def got feelings for each other, they just need time to sort their shit out.

And because I like to play dress up, I drew some of their wardrobes:

Stole your girl and made you cry

Because at some point I had to draw Samira's girlfriend. It just took me like, ten months to finish the page.

New challengers have entered the arena

Fifteen years later, I finally finished, and scanned the intro for these two.
I can't do it- I can't ! / I'm going to ruin everything. / What are you on about ? / There's no reasons for it to go bad. / The audience will love it ! / We all believe in you, you can do it ! / Thank you Morhange ! I won't disappoint you ! / You should go get your makeup fixed though and quickly because it will start soon.

Gidéon, despite being a fairly popular actor/singer, has horrible stage fright, and by that I do mean that every single night someone has to pep talk him on stage, one time it just happened that Aimé, who's often lurking backstage, was the person to do so, and lo and behold despite having never noticed him before there wasn't a need for much more for Gidéon to get the dokies. Aimé is clueless about it tho, he's just being nice.

Actually, once Aimé understands that Gidéon is into him, he starts sleeping with him for all the wrong reasons, because else it's not the 18th century.

Ah, he's here too. / Glad to see you too, Apolline. / On the way to deafen the parisians, as I see. / Pah ! Even if I did my best, I would not to as much damage as you do, my dear. / Pig. / Harpy. / To be honest, you'd make a better harlot than a singer. / You as well, my dear.

Apolline is the prima donna of the Opera. Since her and Benigno sing at the same range (and sometimes compete for the same roles), they are terrible rivals who never miss a chance to trash talk the other, but since it's the 18th century they gotta bring this tension in bed.
Apolline is also one of Eugénie's rare genuine friends, even if she acts snobbish and cold she really does care about her.

Who needs more OCs when you can just make AUs

I just really needed to draw genderbent Marsilio… For science… And it was very good science (I need to include them in a NSFW sketchbook page one day…)
I like to think Marsilio would be called Marcella and Emilio Emiliana.
Marcella and Emiliana. That just sounds cute ok.

And some modern AU fun. Emilio tries to warm Marsilio to the idea of PDA, slowly…

And to conclude, I was craving some Mafia AU shenanigans, and boy did my hands cooperate for once.
Even when Marsilio agrees to have casual sex with Emilio, he still is super suspicious of him, so there's always some tension between them despite Emilio genuinely having no bad intentions.

Tea, but make it hot

Back in April, a friend launched the idea of drawing our favorite teas as characters. I couldn't choose between the shitty cheap black tea I always drink (my comfort tea) and my then actual favorite, a fancy cinnamon tea, so I made two of them.
In my head they're both some flavor of non-binary.
And then we started shipping our tea folks because of course we did.
Rose tea belongs to her.

And my sibling joined the fun with piccadilly blend, which we decided is from the same family as Black tea.

Anyway, those tea children are very fun, would recommend (if you do decide to join the fun, tag it #teasona !)

Somebody stop me

I just can't resist designing all of my characters' families and this is getting out of hand. Here's baby Artsiom with his big sister Halyna, his big (big) brother Heorhiy, his dad Pavlo, and his other brother Fedir.

Fun fact, you know how the monks in this universe all get a new name upon joining the monastery ? Artsiom's birth name is 'Yuliy'. Because why have characters have only one name when you can give them multiple ?

Artsiom and his family are goat keeper (or more like, were). Here Halyna is herding the cow by kulning, which I gotta link a vid to because it's so cool.
And you bet your ass the whole family knows hot to do this herding call.

And now for less wholesome things…
I won't go too into details because I really want to make an actual comic about these characters. But enjoy good old trauma (is it a nightmare, is it a memory, what a mystery)
Love at first sight (romance is dead)

And now for some pain™
Fedir dies on the battlefield and I apparently just could not stop drawing it over and over.

ofc it's not fun if his big brother doesn't get to survive. Else how is he going to feel the pain ?

and now that's just mean.

On another note, I wanted to draw grown-up Fedir in an AU where he did not die so young, so here he is in his glorious pretty-but-still-feisty glory.

I also got some old drawings from july that I did not post yet, so have some modern AU babies

Crossing Animals

I've been playing New Horizon since last April and at some point I had to draw some art for it.

So, on the two end of the spectrum, I humanized my -then- villagers, and on the other I drew them as actual animals.

The furry inbetween when

Clowning around

Sometimes you just get the need to draw clowns.
Also I realize I never posted the original clown page, so here ! More clowns !
